The Dark Knight Rises You Have My Permission To Lounge - Part 5

You can't compare Cranston to Keaton. Cranston had no prior associations with Batman, live action or otherwise, and was in the middle of Breaking Bad when he did Year One. That show is what made Cranston a name and gave him a notable career.

I'm not saying Keaton would turn his nose up at the idea of doing an animated movie. After all he did Toy Story 3. I think he's moved on from the specter of Batman. His career has been boosted to new levels in the last few years that I doubt it would be on his radar or in his interest to go back to Batman. Voice work or otherwise.

Yeah, he was in the middle of Breaking Bad. Keaton wouldn't be in the middle of anything. Who cares if Cranston had no previous ties to the franchise, that means nothing. If Harrison Ford can suddenly change his tune and want to do Star Wars and Bladerunner, then Keaton could change his mind for Batman if it meant a good paycheck, some fun doing voice acting like West is doing now, and he wouldn't have to put on a batsuit or even play Bruce Wayne in front of a camera.

There is still a chance that it could happen. The guy is playing a villain in a Spider-Man movie, it's not like he's all about the Birdman's and Spotlights's these days. Give him a few years and i bet he changes his tune. He's older, and the great roles will NOT keep coming.

How do you know Keaton wouldn't be in the middle of anything? Did you glance at his personal future work schedule? You also can't compare Harrison Ford returning to a multi billion dollar live action movie franchise that is one of the biggest cultural icons in cinematic history, to doing a voice over in a direct to DVD animated movie. The publicity that comes with doing a Star Wars movie eclipses everything about it. As does the pay check I imagine.

Playing a character in the MCU is almost as big as doing Star Wars. The MCU franchise is huge. There is a chance it could happen sure, but I think its a very slim one.

Bryan Cranston was the antagonist in an episode of The Flash, would you believe Adam West had a cameo in another episode of the same series?
Not too far from having a connection to live action Batman in the 90s.

He probably won't be in the middle of a series like Cranston was. He would probably be between films. You're right with the rest of it, but im just saying, there's a 50 50 chance that he would say yes, if he liked their vision.

Whether they can get (or afford) Keaton to do it is the biggest question mark surrounding the idea to me. Because the chances of Burton being anywhere near it are even lower, and Keaton has always maintained that he'd only return to the role if Burton was directing.

However, you'd think that if they were announcing a whole new series of these "DC Classics" that they would have some other planned projects and ideas up their sleeve. And I can honestly think of nothing that would be more marketable or with higher profit potential for them than resurrecting the Burton-verse. It just seems like the biggest no-brainer of them all if you're doing animated movies based on older, defunct continuities.

Yeah what else is in their classic DC series? The mighty return of Clooney?

This could be very interesting. I'd love to see Burton's Gotham revisited and even Nolan's down the road.

I want to see the return of Clooney, too, just for the sheer camp value of it. Clooney looks back and laughs now at his stint as Batman. I could see him doing it for a giggle.

I don't know if this guy would be up for it:

On a serious note, does anyone know the backstory on that gif? I'm pretty sure this was at the Oscars a few years back. I'm guessing someone was ragging on Clooney and he just wasn't in the mood for it.

This thing does indeed present exciting possibilities... Things I've been craving for years--

Burton's Batman III.
Reeve's Superman V/Superman Reborn (there's a screenplay floating around for this one).
Shumacher's Batman Unchained.

He's not being serious there. It was during the opening monologue (can't remember which year) when the host points out people in the audience and riffs on them a bit. Clooney was in on the joke.

Burton's Batman in animated form would be everything to me.

Oh, OK. He had me fooled, because that look he had there totally screams contempt and disdain, lol.

Shumacher's Batman Unchained.

YES. Bring Clooney back and do Batman Unchained/Triumphant/whatever. How amazing would it be if they got Carrey, Nicholson and TLJ for the flashback scene. Now I'm just dreaming.

I wonder if they'd be able to lure retired Jack Nicholson out of his sex dungeon for one of those animated movies

probably not.

Has Nicholson ever done voice over work?

Wow, just goes to show how beloved and timeless TDK is.

I want to see Tim Burton's treatment of Mr. Freeze, or at least something inspired by his style.

That's a positive sign.
Better giggle than cringe. :D

And it's not even a decade old.
Guess the critic's comment on my VHS copy of The Hunchback of Noterdame applies to this movie: "An instant classic"
