Saw this twice this weekend at two different theaters.

Theater #1
It was about 40% full but I've never been to that theater and its been packed because most people go to other ones (It really needs renovations). Anyway the people were pretty much silent through out and laughed in a few spots. But there was a child behind me talking through the whole movie asking 100 million question but was excited during the movie and when they left. There was some shy clapping at the end and as I walked out you could hear people saying that it was good. Also a few people were still sitting there once the credits were rolling.

Theater #2
It is much more busy theater and about 70% full. The people were much more vocal and into it than the first theater. They laughed at several spots in the movie but places where it was fits. No one clapped at the end but from the laughter and excitement during the movie I think most enjoyed it.

3rd time

Not as many people this time, but it was still plenty, I actually saw a few empty seats but not a hell of alot.

Not as many people clapping at the end but there was a few (...maybe I was among them.....) ALOT of people loved Faora...I just posted about that in the Antje Traue topic....holy crap lol, they want her to come back and become SuperWoman and have super babies with Superman lol

Saw it a second time this weekend at a 10am showing, maybe because of the early hours there weren't that many people I think there were like maybe 5 or 6 of us there I'm not kidding.

And nobody clapped at the end.

I saw an 11am showing the day MoS opened. I'm going to go for a 3rd viewing tomorrow at 11:15am.

I anticipate being one of only a handful in the theater, people just don't go to movies that early, which is why I kind of like it. Plus I get the matinee prices and when I get out of the movie I have a full day of stuff to do and can do it with a smile on my face for having seen an amazing movie.

Same here. Local theater here in Tallahasssee had regular IMAX the first few days of its' release, but now you have to choose between IMAX 3D and regular 2D. Out of those two choices I'm going with IMAX 3D. I just could see so much more of the movie, especially the battles, with the better screen. 3D was pretty useless but I didn't feel it was a distraction either.

Buddy, i saw it on the 13th at midnight, in 3d, i knew from experience that it wouldn't look as sharp as imax, but, i was still excited. The trailer for Pacific rim was in 3d and i sighed, it looked blurry and messy, maybe it was just me but i couldn't focus, it made certain backgrounds look blurry, certain characters seem to disappear as they moved across screen, but anyways i enjoyed the film, but the last 3rd was kinda lost on me.

I loved the film tho - so on my second viewing, a week later in imax (a full theatre) it was crystal clear and i smiled knowing i would 'see' or notice a lot more. The film was even better in my opinion - 3d appears as just a money maker gimmick

But, sadly my local theatres are 3d

1st showing: The theater was halfway full (which i was surprised by, seeing it was saturday) and the people were quiet throughout the movie. In the end a couple people of people clapped.

2nd showing: A pretty empty showing. at the end an old man had tears rolling down his eyes. Another person said it was pretty boring and superman returns was better.

First viewing was 1 day after release in IMAX 3D:
sold out show, crowd was less responsive than I would have expected since over half of them had bought their tickets weeks in advance, but there was clapping and cheering at the end.

Second viewing was 4 days after release in XD 3D:
not a lot of people at that show (maybe a 1/3 full). This bothered me until.....

Third viewing was 6 days after release, matinee, 2D:
totally packed theater, great response.

Fourth viewing was 10 days after release, matinee 3D theater:
1/2 full theater, people laughed in the typical places.

When considering the number of people at the XD viewing, I realized that most people in their right minds wouldn't pay $14 for a matinee show (but all the XD 3D shows at that theater cost this much, no matter what time it is).

Hopefully it will do well this weekend with families who went to Monsters Inc. last weekend.

I guess their Superman is the boy-scout one... Return was terrible and till this day I still cannot watch it through... After the Air plane rescue the movie was all about Lois and Lex with Superman in the background wishing he was Richard...

Me neither.. hated luthor because of SR... even hate spacey after that movie.. it was soooo bad...

But I did buy the Blu-Ray.. and pops it in to enjoy the Plane Rescue scene over and over again... then fast forward to the Bullet in the Eye scene.. (now, that truly shows how powerful superman was)...

I wish they had a few of those Plane Rescue scene moments in MOS... The Oil Rig one, add 10 mins to it, and could have been such a magical action sequence...

The novelization version of the Oil rig scene is way more fleshed out and really brings it to life. I hope that the longer version was actually shot and makes it onto blu ray.

Really? See, I knew they butchered the scenes... maybe to satisfy some stupid 'this movie can only be 2:23 long'... and that could have been their entire problem.. trying to fit everything into a 2 hour more... this movie is meant to be 3 hour long, if you asked me.. if each of the scenes were done well, fully fleshed out, and characters fully allowed to breathe, then it needs to be longer... or, they need to cut short the story...

Just got back from my 3rd showing. Only a few people in the entire theater (6-7 of us) in IMAX 3D.

When I went in at around 4pm there were a lot of kids and parents in the general theater area, presumably they were going to Monsters U.

No clapping at the end, after-all that would be pretty awkward in a theater with only a handful of people. But there were some laughs at parts that were meant to be funny.

Philippines - full all throughout the day (yesterday). we had to cancel 4 reserved seats an hour before our scheduled time, but was surprised that they were immediately resold at midnight screening.

I've seen a movie in the Philippines before....sorry you had to see MOS there!

No offense lol (and I'm half filipino), but people there have absolutely no consideration when it comes to being quiet and courteous while the movie is playing.

Kids yelling, adults jabbering, cell phones ringing everywhere....and nobody seems to mind in the least. My brothers and I were baffled about that almost as much as the crazy driving over there lol.

That's exactly what my theaters are like at times, especially with my three screenings of the film and I live in Hawaii.lol

Hell, I just saw it again for the third time today, and leaving the screening room, an bunch of locals here were doing nothing but just screaming "Superman sucks" (not because they think he actually sucks but just to make some commotion) and they were just goofing with each other during some parts of the film, making it hard to concentrate at times.

On another note, today's screening was also the first time that I heard people actually crying at Pa Kent's death scene, along with a few female viewers going "awwww" when Lois hugged Superman in the train station.

Though I swear, no matter how many times I go there, people always laugh at the moment Lois and Superman kiss, probably because they find the routine cliche i guess regarding the scenario of an hero saving his female lead and passionately kissing her afterwards.lol

Watched MoS again to day at a 730 showing and the theatre was about half full. Not bad for a Tuesday night. The crowd reacted pretty well and responded appropriately at all the right moments.

SR still has it's market. the critics as well as some superman fans love it.

Saw it again tonight for the 2nd time.Maybe 70-80 people there.So it seems to have had pretty good legs.Crowd was pretty reserved.No applause at the end.(though there was the first time.I forgot to mention it at the time.)
