Why does he have one human hand!?

That throws it off completely for me.

In the original the doctors completely removed the good human arm, so in the remake he gets to keep some of it.

Internet has a manip of how it could look on screen based on the release shoulder pic:

I do think this is sort of what we're gonna get and if so I love it.

While I do prefer this to the actual shot it makes him look too much like a bad guy IMO.

But he's suppose to look like a bad guy here, he's in the intimidation mode supposedly that is for SWAT like assaults.

That's ok then just so long as this isn't the mode that'll be used for most of the movie.

But why ? The way i figure it in the original they could have probably saved more of him, his throat, his feet, knees and thighs. They could have saved all of that, they didn't. So why bother with the hand ? Why this ridiculous human hand on a robot ?

For PR reasons you say, not to scare the children you say. But they grafted his face onto a robot skull, so why not graft an entire human skin on to the exoskeleton and have him resemble a human. That way the children and te public won't fear him, they have the tech. It's ludicrous.

I just figure he has his glove off on set...is it confirmed he has a human hand or are we just speculating?

It's been confirmed by some people who have read the script. OCP keeps his hand so that people will still see a human side to him. Because apparently having a face doesn't cut it anymore.

This can't possibly be the final costume. He looks like a power ranger villain. :csad:

While he looks like RubberCop now. I hope... That when we get to see it in better lighting, it will look good.

I think this promo shot, even though it's only the shoulder we see, looks really good:

I like the teaser poster.

I'll always hate "The Killing" cause it's the reason we didnt get a season 2 of "Lights Out

I liked Lights Out, but I didn't mind how it ended. Sometime, victory has a price.

I don't want to be too hasty, but I am underwhelmed. Setting any issues of color aside, the contours and the design itself are just kinda "blah." It looks like something I've seen a million times before. Very bland.

There are several other phases he'll have, so it be premature to dismiss the entire project based on this one picture. I'd like to see an official still before I completely write off this particular look as well.

His suit doesn't look as bad as I thought it would, and it has been stated that over the course of the film, he'll have at least 4 different modes. I'll wait until we get an official pic from the film before I pass judgement. By all accounts, it does look like a more "updated" version of the original suit. Hopefully the film turns out to be good.

Wow this thread has exploded! I think they made a mistake not preempting the set pics with an official pic release of one of the suits 4 modes.

I saw the pic of Robo's car in the other thread, it looks chunky and powerful but not all that high-tech.

I like the helmet but the bodysuit looks like a Batsuit.

Love the suit and the human hand is a neat little detail in my opinion. I'll always love the original Robocop but I'l give this a shot.

All these comments about "generic" this and "generic" that...

I think that's a tad unfair. A, we've not actually seen what it does, and we know it has various "modes". This design reflects current scifi ideas about technology because this design stems from those, whereas the original movie reflected design ideas about technology and robotics then. And since we've seen the original movie, there have been TONS of films, video games, comic books, etc with "Techy" armor, suits, etc. There really isn't a way to do black or silver or dark robotic body armor anymore than won't be labeled generic by someone simply because it's an armored look or because they've seen elements of it somewhere before. But for all the comparisons being made to other designs, this doesn't really look at all like what's in them. It bears few similarities to the Batsuit, MASS EFFECT, CRYSIS, or (the most ridiculous comparison yet) THE GUYVER. And the most obvious comparison to make, IRON MAN, is a far bulkier design. This is very much its own thing. You might as well compare it to the battlesuits in PACIFIC RIM, GI JOE: RISE OF COBRA, or The Phantom's outfit in the SyFi TV miniseries, since it has minor similarities to all of those.

Remember, when ROBOCOP originally came out, while the design itself was relatively new, it too was relatively derivative of robot (and some superhero) concepts of the time. That was kind of the gag. That he was this big, clunky robotic product.

I still can't see how that looks like the batsuit.

It's 2039 when it starts out, then when Robo enters the scene it is 2041. Not 2029.
Official press release identifies the timeframe as 2029. One of the changes made of the Script as well as the name and age of OmniCorp's CEO, and Lewis' overall appearance.

I kinda like the new suit, but i don't like that his right hand is still human.

No problems with the black colour or that it looks like Batmansuit or Iron Man suit.

Now i hope his weapon will be as cool as the original one and will he keep it in his right leg?

And his movement, will it be human or robotic or kind of robotic but not with every move he makes like the original RoboCop?

Questions that will be answered once we see the movie.

Summer 2013 can't wait for it because as a child a saw both Superman and RoboCop and now they both come back in a new movie.

Excited! Woohoo! :)

From what I've read, it seems like he'll be moving robotic, but he'll be fast. Seems also like you'll hear the classic RoboCop stomping when he's walking normally.
