In many parts the country school is getting out very soon.

Ive never heard of school letting out before Memorial Day. Maybe private schools or colleges but K-12 tends to end in early June.

3D is the only way to go for me. if TDKR was in 3D I would watch it in 3D. that lost out on an automatic extra $3 from me.

only nolan could insist on 2D, anyone else and I think WB would have forced him to film in 3D, it's going to lose them a lot of money they would have automatically got.

Well, Avengers has no shot at Avatar-like legs simply because it's a summer movie. There's just too much competition, to many big releases.

Titanic and Avatar did what they were able to do largely because they opened in December and just owned weak movie months like January and February.

Still one's gotta admit that there are plenty of big films released at that time that don't do Avatar/Titanic numbers...

I just don't understand what 3D adds. Maybe because I am so sensitive about my glasses, but it feels like a way to just get more money from you.

Yeah no way TDKR does these numbers. WIth no 3D for that film it really is a moot argument.

ASM is 3D and would have been on the screens for 2 weeks and then TDKR comes out, in 2D.

so do they take down spidey and show TDKR in 2 and lose $3 per ticket or do they leave spidey in the 3D theatres? I'm really curious about that one.

Nikki Finke believes the Avengers will actually do more than 200.3m. I agree, I don't see it dropping so much on Sunday:

I believe Disney is being overly conservative and the final figure will exceed that since Avengers should make over $50M on Sunday.

If it breaks Potter's single day record, it will make more then $200 million. I however doubt that. If the film is a similar length to TDK, the amount of showings is going to go down.

HP2 was barely 2 hours.

Obviously it's at a disadvantage without 3D, but I still think it's going to be in the 200 ball park. It's heavily anticipated and while obviously it doesn't have the Ledger/Joker factor, it has the "final chapter" factor.

I wonder if Battleship will even win its opening weekend? Dark Shadows is going to get crushed but I think the May 18th weekend is interesting.

I saw Twister about 6 times when i was a kid. I had a big fascination with tornadoes back then.

Not much to explain. Films have depth. They are three dimensional. The thing with the glasses isn't actually 3D. It is called stereoscopy. At least that is how Nolan explained it.
