Sunday drop = 56% and Monday drop = 63% ouch!

Forecasts if the drops are consistent with this week:

~ $613.6 million after July 15th.

~ $614.9 million after July 22nd.

~ $615.7 million after July 29th.
Actual = $613.7 million July 15th.

Actual = $615.0 million July 22nd.

Since I seem to be off $100K, next weekend may be $615.8 million :woot:

Can't wait for it to pass $616 million (get it?)

Hoping it can still hit $620 million if Marvel/Disney releases it to the dollar theaters like WB does with it's films.

I do get the reference , But I never undersood why they called it the 616 universe .

I got to be honest, talking about all the what could've been stuff for Dark Knight Rises at this point comes off as kind of tacky to me. Sorry if that offends anybody, but getting fixated and disappointed about box office results when a bunch of people got hurt and lost their lives is sort of silly in comparison.

At the very least, its off topic. Just stick to TA box office. Thanks.

When TDKR starts to approach the 500 million domestic mark a comparison might be appropriate.

It's the only major comic book blockbuster that comes out this year that is in the same league as the avengers. Seeing as how the Avengers box office news has slowed, it's understandable to divert the discussion towards TDKR.
It happened in early may in the batman box office thread, it's definitely gonna happen here. It's unavoidable.

Absolutely agree. There's no reason to be depressed over these numbers in light of what happened. To me anything that happens with this movie is totally secondary next to the victims, it doesn't matter what movie it is, it could have been anything. There's no reason to get worked up over that.

Continuing my forecasts:

~ August the 6th = $616.3M

~ August the 13th = $616.6M

Any idea if Disney plans to release the film in those dollar cinemas?

May look like it will cap out at $618 million before it's pulled off theaters.

Some say it's a homage to the first issue of the Fantastic Four released in 1961, some say it's just a random number Alan Moore chose. Take your pick.

I don't even care what TDKR made this weekend. I didn't care much going into the weekend anyway, but now...

To be honest, we're just watching these box office threads to make sure there's no totally inappropriate gloating about TDKR not beating Avengers. Which, btw, someone on this thread and the TDKR box office thread already got a probation for doing. :whatever:

Theres a thread for that.

lol If it makes any difference, I've been told WHY several times and STILL don't remember why lol
Just makes it easier to clarifie between the Original Marvel Universe from all the alternate time-lines, Realities and so on

If I remember correctly it was a reference that the Watcher makes that he's numbered the different parallel universes that exist. The traditional Marvel Universe is no. 616.

That just pisses me off to no end. Avengers isn't The Godfather but it isn't like it didn't entertain adults just as well as kids.

True that. No kids movie is going to have the villain shout out mewling quim in it, for kicks.

That implies most people knew what the phrase meant. I hadn't heard it before then, but had an inkling what he was saying.

But even then, I've seen cartoons that were, in no way, meant for children, or might be too much for children. A few that come to mind would be Watership Down, The Last Unicorn, Secret of the Nihm, and the original The Little Mermaid.

What is more likely? TA getting a re-release with extended/deleted scenes or just a plain bump in number of last hurrah see it one last time in IMAX 3D screens in order to maximize the DOM BO? The avg per screen is pretty consistent, and I feel like TA can make another 5-10 million with a decent 1000 screen bump with a re-release just before the retail release.

This movie should get a re-release before Avengers 2 come out in theaters.

I'm sure it will . Most theaters had a Marvel Movie marathon.

Avengers looks crazy on the all time domestic list, really not all that far away from the big 2.
