Needlessly dismissive? Probably. But I have to say that I absolutely agree with him, we haven't had a really great Batsuit yet, some of them were pretty cool but prevented the actor from turning their head, and were afraid of colors that weren't black, and when they finally trumped the head turning issue we got a costume that looked like a jigsaw puzzle.

It's fine to agree that you haven't been pleased with any of the Bat-suits. But I can't take the other part of his statement seriously, as someone who's enjoyed most of the on-film Bat-suits except for the B&R one(s).

I love the jet black look. It's menacing and iconic to me, it's engrained in my first memories of seeing the character, just like the black and grey is iconic to many other people too who might've first experienced Batman through the comics, 60s show or TAS.

See? A different opinion without completely dismissing the other side or inferring that they are mindless sheep.

Cloak him in shadow and he might as well be in an all black suit :awesome:

Then when when he steps into the light.. :wow:

Because grey tights are inherently more frightening and menacing to criminals. :oldrazz:

Oh, and...whoever says this didn't look cool is lying to themselves.

Only because we have never had a proper Batsuit. This forum has always been divided between those who really want to see a proper Batsuit, and those who just like whatever a movie studio gives them at the time.

Yup that's it. You're the only true fan. Everyone else just sucks. :whatever:

Maybe that's why Nolan went with the puzzle pieces? :hmm

If you think I'm talking about realism, think again. We all just have our own preferences for what we think looks cool on film. That's why this idea of one version being the "proper" version and everything else being crap kind of annoys me.

Batman 89 would not have worked without the kind of suit they went with. FACT.

So why the constant hating on the "movie" look thus far? It's okay to want something different, hell I do now, but no need to throw everything under the bus. (this is speaking to regwec's post, not anything you said)

Having preferences is one thing, but making it out like people who didn't mind the previous suits are filthy casuals who aren't "big enough" fans is a bit rich.

actually I see the division being between people who want a comic book suit and people that want a realistic suit.

Your statement doesn't really work, since I spoke of a polarization of opinion here.

I agree, which is probably why I didn't say any of the things that you have just misascribed to me, and why the words you have inserted into " " did not appear in my post at all.

It really has nothing to do with realism for me. I just want the suit to look cool. In fact, I'm not even that particular about it.

The division to me is more people who are more militant in their views of what a Batsuit should and shouldn't look like, and people who are more flexible.

To me, realism shouldn't be thrown out the window. But it also shouldn't be EMPHASIZED.

I think the Arkham games have the best approach: Naturalistic, but fantastical.

Explicit language use isn't necessary to pick up implications. You obviously think none of the batsuits so far have been "proper", and by the way you split your statement into an "Us vs Them" dichotomy it would seem you think your group of proper batsuiters have a more specific and congruent taste than the fans that'll take any old thing spray painted black.

Not making a debate out of it, but it's clear you're not in favor of flexibility/renditions of a batsuit without certain characteristics.

Yeah. It's just about texture. The suit obviously can't just be a flat two dimensional thing that's colored exactly as you see in the comics. Something in live action is automatically going to have more texture and detail, even if it's being more faithful to the comics. Hard decisions have to be made about the materials for each piece of the suit. And how that's going to photograph under different lighting conditions. How the actor is going to be able to move in it. Etc. Etc.

To me, the whole "Nolan realism" thing has gotten blown out of proportion. In a sense, the whole point behind even putting a comic book character on the big screen is to make it feel more "real", more life-like. So any movie version is going to have a certain amount of realism. Nolan just injected it back into the franchise at a time where it really needed it because it had gone too far off the rails in the other direction.

/rant.

No, you're wrong. The whole point of a movie is to translate a cartoon/animated concept 100% accurately and verbatim onto the silver screen.

/sarcasm.

Jokes aside, I'm pretty sure Snyder has taken into account the vitriol spewed at the TDKT suits and has a suit in mind that brings in a lot of traditional elements.

^to BatLobsterRises and DeadPresident - if I may add my two cents in...I think all regwec was saying was that there are some posters that are more passionate about seeing a comic-faithful, "proper" suit (meaning what we're use to seeing in the comics for years and years) and those that don't care all that much and just accept what suit is shown in the film - for better or for worse.

This. You are exactly right here. The franchise did indeed need things to come back down to Earth. But now that it's had three movies to do so, I think that we need Snyder's take on realism. Say what you want about MOS, but the way that he could bring Superman into a more realistic world was impressive. Can't wait to see his view of Batman.

Yep, you may be right.
