The Dark Knight Rises You Have My Permission To Lounge - Part 5

He's really a crappy detective. Not only that, he waits until Deadshot is with his daughter. When Lawton pulls a gun on Batman, his daughter steps in the way, and Bats just stares on like "well, make your choice Deadshot". I did like the look of that scene and Ben's delivery (Will's acting too)...but it really isn't the way Batman would operate. When i left the theater i was like "ok cool, at least he didn't try to murder him. He arrested Deadshot". And now i feel like it was a bit unnecessary to wait until he was with his daughter just so he can catch him off guard? D**k move Batman. What if his daughter got shot by accident?
He could have at least waited for him to place his stuff in his house, instead of letting his daughter carry all the packages for I don't know how long.

About to do a rewatch of the trilogy

This will be the first time I see Rises since it's theatrical release. Really hope my opinion changes considering how crappy 'recent efforts' have been.

Your a fan and frequently roam these boards and you are now just watching Rises since its theatrical release. Wtf man. 4 years. W.T.F.

"SKULL IS LAND"
That spacing in the poster is getting the best of me.

Curious to hear your thoughts Chip, good or bad. I'm due for a trilogy rewatch myself.

Calm down brah.

I'm due to watch Rises myself. But i saw it 3 times in the cinema and about 3 times on blu-ray. Something like that. It's been a while though.

I frequent these parts more so for the quality of discussion. Sometimes when I need a break from people calling Batman v Superman a cult classic when it was just released this year, I come here and everything is usually put into perspective.

But anyways.... Watched begins last night, still my absolute favorite of the trilogy. Holds up so well in my opinion. Great performances all around and it really captures what Gotham should look like. That railway system was so cool looking.

And most importantly, it contains all the right humor beats. Very tastefully done for a set of movies that gets so much flack for being "dark and serious." I'd argue that both MOS and BvS are a lot darker in tone than at least Begins.

Why Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice Is Becoming A Cult Classic

:)
It's clean.

I agree.

Something I heard about Batman Begins more is it has a few cheesy lines "nice coat" (I don't know why they call that cheesy) and performances.

They got the balance right with the tone in BB.

I think the difference between TDK Trilogy and the Marvel films (not a criticism against those just an observation) is I think in the former the humor is really just there as much needed comic relief because the films, especially the sequels are very tense. It's not laugh out loud funny, but it's enough to give the characters some warmth and cut through the overall super earnest tone. Whereas some of the Marvel films push a bit closer towards being action/comedies with a more irreverent tone.

It seems like with MoS and BvS Snyder seemed to take his cue from the darkest elements of TDK/TDKR as well as Watchmen/Dark Knight Returns and use that as his jumping off point. It's also worth pointing out that it's simply easier to accept a dark Batman movie than it is a dark Superman movie.

The sheer delusion of DCEU fanboys can only be described as Trumpian.

BvS has not even been out a year and it's a cult classic? :loco:

Don't forget, Sucker Punch was supposed to become a cult classic too.

I've said it before and i'll say it again, i can't WAIT for the day that Batman is no longer in a movie with DC superheroes.

I can't believe I'm gonna say this, but I'm starting to agree.

Can we at least have Dick and Barbara though? I just wanna see those characters done right and I have a feeling that isn't happening in this current universe.

I'm totally down for the Bat-family. I think that's another reason seeing Batman interact with the rest of the DC Universe feels less exciting for me. He's still got his own vast universe with tons of things yet to be explored on film. I get that there are a lot of DC fanboys who've wanted this forever, so I'm glad for the ones that are enjoying it, but I've always said that the rest of the DC Universe benefits a lot more from Batman than vice versa in terms of marketability to the general audience.

Yeah... I'd rather have a Batman Family movie. A better slate might have been:

MOS2 (With Bruce Wayne Cameo)
Suicide Squad (With Batman Cameo)
Wonder Woman
Batman Family movie
Justice League
